Watch your thoughts; for they become words.
Watch your words; for they become actions.
Watch your actions; for they become habits.
Watch your habits; for they become character.
Watch your character; for it will become your destiny.
- Frank Outlaw
With the beginning of a New Year, many of us take time to reflect and do some soul-searching as to how to become a better person. We can start with feeding our minds and souls with better thoughts which will lead to better, more nourishing words. The words we speak will enhance our lives and lead to the best we can be.
Take a stroll down Clarion's Main Street, and you will be greeted with some uplifting words painted on the sidewalk, courtesy of Clarion Area High School art students, under the direction of brilliant art teacher, Mr. Jones. The words include:
Dependability
Reliability
Imagination
Vision
Authenticity
Individuality
Opportunity
Creativity
Perseverance
Harmony
The individual store owners chose these words to reflect the values that are important to them. May the aura of these powerful words radiate and spread beauty, brightness, and blessing to our community.
In the book of Philippians, the apostle Paul stated the sentiment brilliantly:
"Whatsoever things are true; whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just; whatsoever things are pure; whatsoever things are lovely; whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
We are, and we will become, the words that we speak; let's make them good ones!
Cordially,
